How to Play

Each player starts with 16 pieces: 1 king, 1 queen, 2 rooks, 2 bishops, 2 knights, and 8 pawns. The goal of the game is to checkmate the other king. Checkmate happens when the king is in a position to be captured (in check) and cannot escape. Each of the 6 different pieces has its own move set, which can be used to eliminate other pieces from the board or trap them from moving. For example, bishops may only move diagonally of the color square they start on, while knights can only move in an L shape, jumping over pieces as they move.

The plastic Giant Garden pieces are made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE) recycled plastic. These chess pieces are rugged, waterproof, and UV-resistant injection-molded, hollow plastic.
